CII gets its new President

Venu Srinivasan, Managing Director, Sundaram-Clayton Ltd and Chairman & Managing Director, TVS Motor Company Ltd, has been elected as the President of CII for the year 2009-10. Mr Srinivasan will assume office as the new President of the apex industry association.  He succeeds Mr K V Kamath as the new CII President.

An engineer with a Masters' Degree in Management from Purdue University, USA, Srinivasan is the Honorary Consul General of Republic of Korea, Chennai, and a Member of the Prime Minister's Council on Trade & Industry. Srinivasan has also held positions as President of The Automotive Research Association of India and President, Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers.
 
Under his leadership, both Sundaram-Clayton Ltd and TVS Motor Company have been awarded the prestigious Deming Prize by the Union of Japanese Scientists and Engineers, Japan.

Hari S Bhartia, Co-Chairman & Managing Director of Jubilant Organosys Ltd, has been elected as the Vice President of CII for the year 2009-10.

He is a chemical engineering graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, and has been conferred Distinguished Alumni award by Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi in the year 2000.

Bhartia's role in institutional work includes his role in various capacities with IIT, Delhi and IIT Kanpur as Chairman of the Board of Governors, and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). He has been a member in several educational and science & technology programmes of Government of India.
