Fee prescribed by CLRI for testing finished leather samples

The Central Leather Research Institute (CLRI) has increased the fee for testing of finished leather samples for export from Rs 1,405 to Rs 2,809 with effect from 1.2.2009.

As the Customs Authorities provide a validity period of only six months for the CLRI Certification on Finished Leather from the date of issue, the exporter is required to get the certifications done for the similar type of finished leather after the expiry of six months.

The Council had requested CLRI to consider reducing the enhancement made for testing finished leather samples for export. CLRI positively considered the Council’s request and agreed to reduce the fee for testing finished leather samples from Rs.2809/-. Accordingly, the fee for testing finished leather samples for export has been fixed at Rs.2041/- (Basic fee of Rs.1850/- + Service Tax at 10.3% i.e. Rs.191/-). CLRI informed that the new reduced fee structure will come into effect from April 1, 2009.
