No to Software Piracy
Pirated software can save you some money initially, but it’s nothing but a whirlpool of trouble
Software piracy is the illicit duplication and circulation of computer software. This is done by sharing, copying, selling, downloading or installing numerous copies on private or official computers. When you buy software from the market, you are actually purchasing the license to use it. You are not buying the software. You are not authorized to give the software to your friends and family, if you have only bought one license of it. This license informs you of the number of times you can install the software. Making extra copies of the software than the license actually permits, is piracy.
Software is an intellectual property, and is protected by copyright laws in most countries. Software companies invest millions of dollars in the creation of a software package. But evil minds pirate it and sell it for laughable prices. Pirating a software, and indulging in the acts of copyright infringement, is illegal in most countries and one could face legal action.
You might argue that original software is expensive and you cannot afford it. Which is why you opt for the fake one. Also, many of us cannot figure out the difference between pirated software and licensed software. If your PC collapses or just refuses to work, the offender is more likely to be the pirated software that you have happily deployed, than something else.
So how is pirated software detrimental to your computer? Getting a reproduction of the original software is easy but you cannot be certain that the CD you have just purchased contains the entire version. Usually the software pirate from whom you buy the software CD, will not allow you to run a check of the CD. It is difficult for you to determine whether the CD contains the entire contents or not. You regret when you try to install the program and discover that many of the features do not function or the CD does not work at all.
Additionally, pirated software can easily be afflicted with various malware such as Trojans, viruses and worms, which you don’t want on your computer. These programs get installed with the software and can play havoc with your data, computer, personal information (bank IDs, credit card information, etc) and security.
Pirated software does not come with warranty. Hence, if your brand new software stops functioning for some reason, there is no helpline number for you. You just have to bear the situation, or maybe call your friends for help.
Pirated software is the biggest cause of the computer breakdowns. It can cause your computer to stop functioning and you might have to reformat your machine that can lead to the loss of important data or useful company information. It may be very difficult to retrieve the important data and you might end up deploying extra work hours to make up for the loss. Your reputation as a professional organization can be at stake with all this.
Though original software is expensive, companies are coming up with innovative ideas to address this issue in a number of ways. The present market is full of stripped-down versions and special editions for various types of consumers, and offer package deals. You just need to explore them for a fair and economical deal. You surely will have a better computing experience with the licensed software, without compromising on your computer’s health.
